We’ve had the bees for a little over a week and I think things are going well. Not to resort to anthropomorphism or personification, but it does appear the colony is settling in and perhaps feeling at home.
We do know they are busy. We are still feeding them and they drain the feeder in 2 days. Probably sooner, but that is how often we do a brief inspection. By brief, I mean scooting the feeder back a little and checking for activity.
It’s hard to see from the picture, but there were a large quantity of very active bees.

Tonight, we saw a lot of bees on the layens frames that were not used in the transfer. They are next to the feeder and last the last time the feeder was filled we just saw a few on them, so there is definitely more activity. We also replaced the feeder with new one. It probably wasn’t necessary from a cleanliness point of view, but I was curious about how many dead bees would be in it. There were none, but the colony could have disposed of them.

Next week, I’ll do a more intensive inspection to get a better understanding of how the colony is doing.
