I started this post a week ago and have been too caught up in what was going on to finish, so here we go.
I think it was on Monday, January 29th was when Linda decided that she was tired of looking at the front of the shed and the front of the barn, so she went into town to find someone who could and would do this job. She went to LaCrosse Lumber and spoke to the guys at the counter. As it turns out, one of them had a siding company that needed a small job to do because their current project was in a temporary pause. So, she told him what needed to be completed.
On Tuesday morning, he came by the house to measure and what not. Later that day he called with an estimate and said they could start on the project on Thursday. This put me into a panic because I was planning on waiting until spring to move the service entrance from the front of the barn to the side.
The next day I went to Butler Supply and bought the splice kits I would need to move the service entrance.

Fortunately, despite the mud, moving the entrance was pretty benign.
Now the fun begins. It was going to take nine sheets of siding to get the job done. And they don’t paint themselves.
Linda to the rescue.

She painted all nine panels in what had to be record time.
The guys arrived the next morning and they were incredibly fast. Hardly before I had finished saying hi to them, they had the trim off the shed and one piece of old siding removed.
They finished the shed before lunch and then started in on the barn. Again, the old trim and siding seemed to fly off the building. About mid-afternoon, I wandered out there and asked if they could fix the rotten top plate that I had been working on for literally months.
One of the guys looked around and said it wouldn’t be a problem. Not a problem! It would have literally taken me at least a month to get it done.
By the end of the day, they had finished the bottom of the barn and had planned out how to repair the top plate.
This takes us up to Friday, February 2nd. They finished most of the exterior work and started working on the rotten top plate.

They finished up all of the interior work and that just left some trim work for Monday morning.
On Monday, they were in and out in just a couple of hours. I couldn’t believe how much had been completed in such a short amount of time.
All that was left for the moment anyway was to connect the wiring to the new panel. This we couldn’t get to until Friday.
The rewiring went pretty well. It took a bit to plan out the best way to get it done. I think we did okay.

To be fair, the door was on before the project started.
Totally thrilled with everything that was accomplished.
