Working on flower beds…

Finally up to April and May, 2023.

Since we’ve done about all we can do to get ready for swarm season to start, we decided to work on the flower beds.

Let’s start with the newest one.

Cedar Grove

Back last fall this bed looked similar to the picture. A big mess of overgrown cedar trees and associated underbrush. This particular mess had three huge cedars in the middle that were hard to take down. Which left us with a bunch cedar logs that nobody wanted.

We dragged the logs to the side and used them to form the perimeter of the new flower bed. It was more of less an oval, so with a couple of measurements and a little math, discovered that we had about 320 square feet of space.

This is going to take a bit of effort to get planted. Fortunately, we have a friend in Columbia that was thinning out her flower gardens.

She gave us:

We decided to cut the cedar logs into different sized pieces and used them to decorate the perimeter. It’s still very much a work in progress, but so are most things and most people.

The Rose Garden

The rose garden was/is a present to myself after I retired due to my COVID experience. It has a large variety of tea roses and did really well last year. This year we purchased 4 miniature roses for the border.
