I wish Spring Break applied to all of us, but sadly not so. But, it was Spring Break for the Grandkids and we got to spend some quality time with them.
Monday
On Monday our Grandson came over. The original plan was to burn as much brush as possible and to have a good time doing it. Well, the rain the night before nixed that idea. Instead, we worked in the “shop” – the garage – and built a swarm trap. He was pretty proud of getting it completed.

The finished product. Came out pretty nice!

Friday
We saw them both on Friday and we made a full day of it. Our first stop was Stark Caverns. Neither Linda of I had been there so it was a new experience for us.
The facility was nice. There is a big covered porch with rocking chairs surrounding the visitor center that we really enjoyed. They gave me a military discount for the tour, which is always appreciated.

I did enjoy the cave. There are several unique formations in the cave. Unfortunately, some of the better flows had been damaged by vandals sometime in the past. One thing the tour guide did that I enjoyed was that he has a black light (UV) flashlight with him. He would shine it on formations to see how much they would light up. It was pretty great.

There is a very steep climb towards the end of the tour and if you have back issues like me, you should wait on the bench for everyone else to come down. I didn’t and my back is still trowing a fit. That’s a me issue, not a cavern issue. Nevertheless, it was a great experience.

After the tour, we had had lunch at the picnic area. After lunch, Linda and the Granddaughter went off to explore the trail. It wasn’t very long and that was okay because we decided that ice cream was in order.

We drove to Eldon and went to the Ice Cream Factory. As always, they had a great selection to chose from. After we finished, we headed home.
